A reconstitutable paint made from genuine gold is known as Shell gold.
Store-brought and readily available gold paint is made using an imitation metal which will tarnish (change colour over time) and is often harsh or fake-looking in colour. Comparatively, ready-made, store-bought shell gold can be transparent and watery with little to no opacity (coverage.)
In this class you will learn how to make your own high-quality, highly pigmented gold paint. Learn about the symbolism of gold (illumination) and why the medium is so highly favoured across the world's great traditions.
Learn about the different types of metals which can be turned into paints and what to avoid when buying metal leaf.
