Many miniature paintings are surrounded by a spectacular gold speckled border. This intricate and captivating border is created using genuine gold leaf and results in a starry finish that beautifully fills an otherwise empty space.
During this session you learn how to create your own gold speckled background before understanding what elements and tricks can be implemented in order to complete your miniature painting.
This class is intended to follow on from the previous sessions in level two However, it works as a stand alone session for those who are curious about speckled backgrounds, or who just want to practice.

You can also use a Cowrie shell as a burnisher. With Cowrie shells and marble/agate eggs, you have to make sure they're smooth. It's difficult to recommend without seeing or feeling them. I have bought Cowrie shells online, and have linked one here, For US, please click here
